An Invitation
by chris ~ April 29th, 2006. Filed under: Church.I’m going to Colon, Panama.
In two weeks!
For the last 3 years, my church has teamed up with the Mike Silva Evangelism organization to support them as they bring the gospel to third world countries. 2 years ago, I was invited to go on a life changing trip to Chouloteca, Honduras, and it was truly amazing. I had alot of preconceptions about what my experience was going to be like, and I can say that they were pretty much blown out of the water. They ask you to write down your function on the team before you leave, but you really just open up and become an able body and it’s awesome to see how God can use you. One minute you could be handing out food, another praying over the sick at a hospital. You could be ministering to children, playing music, or delivering clothes.
I really love MSE’s unique approach at what they do, and that’s to unify the church in the area that they’re trying to reach. They research an area that they want to reach, and then they set up an office and begin contacting churches and co-ordinating them for a massive crusade outreach. I think there have to be at least 100 churches willing to participa
te in order for them to go through it. Can you imagine that? I can’t even imagine trying to get 100 churches here to co-ordinate, much less in a foreign country. So, they put together parades and marches, radio interviews, and then surrounding the 3 days of the crusade, they do pastors conferences, women’s conferences, childrens fiestas, etc. Then after the crusdade, thousands of people come to accept Christ, and that’s when the church co-ordination really comes into play. The churches come out and just love on these new believers, and invite them into thier body and help them with thier first steps. Awesome!
As with last time, i’m going to play drums with our worship team, which is always a challange when you’re trying to bust out 150 BPM latin songs over the equatorial sun. It should be interesting though, we’re doing some english songs this time, including a cover of EMF’s Unbelievable, comeplete with record scratching and drum loops. ha! typical attendance at a crusdade is 100,000 people, and I don’t need to tell you how amazing it is to lead 100,000 people into worship.
So, i’d like you all to keep me and my team in your prayers as we prepare to leave on May 16th. If you’d like to help out financially at all, it would be most welcome and heavily appreciated, as I’m still about halfway through the $1600 I need to raise for the trip. You can send any donations you’d like to my address:

or you can PayPal to chris@kimosabe.net
either one would be awesome, but we especially need your prayers. We need prayer for not only harvest of people coming to Christ, but for our protection while we’re there. There’s Hep B and Malaria to worry about, as well as protection from those wishing to harm us.
Oh! i’d also like to invite you to check out http://www.morningstarmissions.com Since I was on my WordPress kick, I built a website for our missions teams that we send out. You can subscribe to it, and get an email whenever we make an update while we’re there. We’ll have internet access and me and my roomate are responsible for media aquisition while we’re there, so I’ll be posting pictures and stories from the trip as it’s happening.
