For the first time in many moons, I didn’t do any work from home! Friday night I worked on some video and some music for the band and hung out with the fam.

i’ve been wanting to experiment with doing performance tracks with the band for a while now, so I started working on a few of them the other night. they turned out pretty weel composition wise, but mixing on the headphones really reared it’s ugly head when we were actaully playing with the tracks, I need to tweak them a little. i’m also going to be uploading them to my church blog so i can share them with other people that are interested in using them or dissecting them or whatever. It feels nice to be working on music again.

Saturday we had practice at my church for the first time, so it took a little while longer to get the sound dialed in. luckily we’ve got digital boards, so I was able to dial in something and save it as a setting so I can call it back up later. It was really nice being able to really hear what everybody was playing for once. I swear, once you go in-ear monitors, you don’t want to go back.

The rest of the day I just relaxed and reveled at the thought of not having to do anything. I caught up on Battlestar Galactica and took a nap with Maren. We did a little shopping and just hung out as a family, which was great.

Sunday got busy again, I played in church and got to teach some of our volunteers how to calibrate and be consistant with the recording system. Carey’s parents watched Maren while Carey and I had a date afternoon. We caught a movie (Ultraviolet – don’t bother) and went to OG for lunch.  I love the routiine, but sometimes it’s nice to dump Maren with someone and have some time alone with Carey. Sometimes it’s nice to be alone by myself, so i’ll hit the Governor’s Cup for a few hours and drink tea and catch up on little projects here and there.

I think that i’ve resolved that life just changes too much to really get settled into anything to permanently, so i just try to find time for myself here and there.
